no trip to Saint Petersburg would be complete without some mention of Lenin.
Lenin arrived back in Petrograd in 1917, aided by the Germans. He then started to plan the Bolshevik revolution.
The bolsheviks used the Smolny Institute, a girls school akin to Roe Dean, as their base for planning the revolution.
The revolution was initailly bloodless, but afterwards the Civil war claimed the lives of millions. No monument to Trotsky though
