My trip to Rostov the Great (about 100 miles (190KM) outside of Moscow
A bit of history. Rostov is one of a group of ancient cities in Russia dating back to the early Middle Ages.
On the way we stopped off to see the remnants of the navy built by Peter the Great and some nice ancient churches.

![]() A monument to the Tsar and the Navy he created. This place is hundreds of miles and kilometers from the sea. |

After having built a fleet here. Peter the Great went off to Archangelsk 1100 kilometres (850 Miles) to the North to build another fleet there.
